Meeting 5th June

Our Chair CLW busily and competently rearranged the evenings
programme due to absentees but we started the meeting bang on time.
The theme for the evening which included many quips was ‘opportunities’

Our introductions were to the subject of: ‘opportunities’

We welcome CS who is the latest person to join NNSC. We hope that
she enjoys her learning experience.

For our inspiration LH told us enlightening statistics regarding
the declining use of coal in the generation of our electricity.

Meeting 22nd May

Our able Chair CAW asked us to introduce ourselves with reminiscences about
food from our past. Much nostalgic stodge was served to great amusement.
An excellent introduction.

SR2 gave us the inspiration by juxtaposing the terrors and exhilaration of a skiing
trip with speaking in front of an audience. A personal, imaginative, and thoughtful
concept which was very well received.

Our prepared speeches were replaced by an Extraordinary Business Session / Committee
meeting ‘light’ lead by DM. DM gave Treasurer’s report, CLW Membership, TH Education.
Lively discussion of Club matters ensued. All participated. JR duly thanked for managing our Facebook page which is effective and encouraged our guest C to attend.

Our Two Minute Topics Master SR2 inspired all speakers. The topics chosen

Meeting 8th May

On a moderately moist May evening, must laughter was enjoyed
as our Chair SR muddled through the proceedings.
A large bundle of rhubarb was distributed amongst the members
in order they produced their rhubarb crumbles!

Meeting 24th April

On a light and almost balmy evening in late April our Chair DM, guided
us through the evening in his usual relaxed manner. As fill in meterial he
gave us useful tips as to how best to memorise our speeches.
Much laughter was had by all.

Meeting 10th April

On a cool but daylight evening in April our Chair LG, armed with her
coffee, guided us through another evening of learning through enjoyment.
Her chosen theme was ‘bananas’ with lots of interesting fill-in material.

Meeting 27th March

With our second speaker arriving slightly later than intended, our evening was
reversed with the Topics session in the first half and the prepared speeches after
the break. Our Chair TH kept us well amused with quotations from Oscar Wilde.
We bimbled through the evening with frivolity as usual…

Meeting 13th March

On a blustery evening in Mid March our Chair JR cheered us up
with a theme of humour. Lots of laughter ensued from the excellent fill-in material.

Meeting 27th February

On probably the last day of our unusually warm spell our Chair SR used the theme
of things that ‘Get our goat’. There was also talk of horses, rabbits and slug trails…

Meeting 13th February

Meeting 30th January

On a frosty evening with a sprinkling of snow but also the welcome glimmer of
longer daylight, our chair CAW warmed us with her usual capable charm. As we only had one speaker, we decided to have a bumper session of Two Minute Topics instead.
A good time was had by all.
