Meeting 23rd October

Our chair CAW asked us to introduce ourselves with recollections of a
favourite childhood story, setting the theme for the evening.

Timer CLW – ingeniously used coloured cards to keep meticulous time.
Grammarian/Wordmaster DM chose the word ‘superfluoous’.
Verbal exhuberence was duly commented on.

The Inspiration was by LH – ‘Quirky Norfolk facts

Our chair CAW used an innovative format. A five minute story for which she
gave a broad outline in advance. The evening took the form of a mini contest
with simple rules; extra points for members nearest the requested time, no
introduction by evaluator, a 5 minute story followed directly by a 3 minute
evaluation.
Quirky, extraordinary tales were brought to life:

Storyteller 1 – TH – ‘Wild things’ evaluated by CLW
Storyteller 2 – LH – ‘An unpleasant surprise’ evaluated by a stunned DM
Storyteller 3 – DS – ‘A tribute to a favourite author’ – evaluated by JR
Storyteller 4 – CLW – ‘Back to the future’ – evaluated by LH
Storyteller 5 – DM – ‘The cruise’ – evaluated by LG
Storyteller 6 – JR – ‘Stan’ – evaluated by TH
Storyteller 7 – SC – ‘Aeromodelling control line’ evaluated by DS

The vote counting and awards presentation were by JR.
A palest pink cyclamen was presented to LH for his story.
A pink cyclamen was presented to TH for her evaluation.
These prizes were generously offered by the Chair and most
accomplished gardener, CAW.

It was a very lively and contented gathering.

Meeting 9th October

The theme of the evening was ‘Trivia’ and a selection of extraordinary and entertaining trivia was served up by our Chair for the evening, LH. This was his first very impressive foray as Chair.
The introduction gave us an opportunity to serve up our own trivia or, rather controversially, reflect on what we were planning for our mortal coil post shuffling.

This approach was much appreciated by all present.

Meeting 25th September

The theme of ‘dancing’ was used for our evening in the library last night, which cheered
us up on a dark wet evening. Introductions were about our experiences of dancing.

Meeting 11th September

On a warm mid September evening our most capable chair TH steered us through
yet another most enjoyable evening in the recently updated library. The theme
for the meeting was ‘politicians and animals’.
Introductions were to the question ‘what animal would you like to see interact with a politician?’

Lot’s of humorous fill-in material and factoids. A good time was had by all.

We welcomed our guest ‘A’ and hope that he enjoyed the evening and look forward
to seeing him again soon.

Meeting 28th August

On a late August evening, pleasantly cooler than our Bank Holiday scorcher,
our Chair JR guided us smoothly and effortlessly through the evening.
Her theme for the evening was Dogs and other animals.
Introductions were to the call: ‘Tell us about your dogs or other animals?’

For fill-in material there were lots of humorous quotes and jokes based
around dogs. A good time was had by all.

Meeting 14th August

On a miserable moist mid August evening, there was lots of warmth and laughter
as our Chair SR used the theme of Tea & Coffee. Introductions were to the question
‘What gets you going in the morning?’

For fill-in material there were various famous and not so famous quotes about tea
and coffee including:

Meeting 31st July

The evening was steered expertly by our most experienced Chair, DM. We were
encouraged to reach into dark and entertaining crevices to introduce ourselves with
our personal demons and phobias.

We welcomed our guest RL and hope to see him again soon.

Meeting 19th June
