Meeting 14th August

On a miserable moist mid August evening, there was lots of warmth and laughter
as our Chair SR used the theme of Tea & Coffee. Introductions were to the question
‘What gets you going in the morning?’

For fill-in material there were various famous and not so famous quotes about tea
and coffee including:
‘If you are cold, tea will warm you
If you are too heated, it will cool you
If you are depressed, it will cheer you
If you are excited, it will calm you’ – William Ewart Gladstone

Ah Counter – LG, Timer – SR2
Wordmaster – CB with the word ‘ransack’

For our inspiration SR2 read a poem called ‘The Fraud Called Youth’ by Donald King.

The prepared speeches were as follows:
Speaker 1 – DM – ‘Living by Numbers’ evaluated by CLW
Speaker 2 – TH – ‘If You Go Down to the…’ evaluated by CAW

Our Two Minute Topics master DS asked us to pick a card from a pack.
The cards had various ‘finish the sentence questions’ including:
I smile when…
The one thing I would change…
Someone I look up to is…
I’m happiest and feel good when…
If I could go back in time to a moment…
The things that are important to me…
The thing I really need is…
Things that bug me are…
If I ruled the world…
A quote I live by…
