Last night’s meeting was the 10th Anniversary of North Norfolk Speakers Club. There was a celebratory atmosphere in the library and everyone was in high spirits.
Our President GB was in charge of events and managed the evening in her usual professional and convivial style
The introductory welcomes were in response to the question:
‘What would you like to find at the bottom of your Christmas stocking?’
Andrew Brammer (who had earlier given a live telephone interview on BBC Radio Norfolk) and David McNaughter were thanked for their work in the club and duly presented with a bottle of whiskey each. They had lots of humorous tales to tell of club activities over the last 10 years. Click here to listen to the live interview
Table Topics with a Christmas theme were performed in a Round Robin fashion.
Everyone picked a topic which was given to the next randomly chosen person by drawing names from a box.
Typical examples were: Should Santa’s gnomes be unionised?, If you were in a panto, what part would you play and why?, If you were the decoration on the top of the Christmas Tree would you be the angel or the fairy?
The evening was punctuated with a long sociable break to enjoy a scrumptuous buffet spread with non-alcoholic bubbly arranged by GB & JC. The piece de resistance was the delicious celebration Christmas cake made by our own chef JC to a secret recipe! .
Each person was also presented with a chocolate Santa.
We had the pleasure of one new guest JM, and two returning guests LV & PR and hope they all enjoyed the extravaganza…
